Colour Blind

I am so glad that the Sunday Times last week ran an article by a Malay reporter sharing her experiences of being a minority race in this country despite being the 'original' people. This week's papers covered some responses from her fellow race as well as other races, with similar experiences. However, the point which I am surprise but will applaud is that the government-controlled paper actually allowed such an article, which might stir a backlash, to be published. Does it mean that is not so propaganding after all?

But back to the article, I feel that indeed, our Malay peers have to try harder than others. They are not exclusive because I am sure our other 'minority' peers endure the same unequal opportunities. But beware, cause a lot of them are actually trying so much harder than us within the struggle that they might/will overtake us someday. I agree that it is inevitable that there is discrimination within colours thus the objective is to minimise it. Let it be a competition between fellow Singaporeans rather than be competition between a Chinese-Singaporean and a Malay-Singaporean.
